Hi just got a Brunette forwarder, that is stuck in a bog, It,s only driving the wheels on one side of the rear bogie, is this a common fault? Has it got gears, shafts or chains and sprockets, when you stick it in drive the wheels that don't drive do jerk slightly, maybe a spline of woodruff key failure? Also where is the filler for the hydraulic tank? does anyone still sell parts for these machines? Cheers Mark.

Judging by the follow-up thread, you've got a job on your hands mate..

will have to pop up and see you at some point fella

Not neccessarily the box as reverse engages perfectly; just won't climb hills in reverse - diffs out as such on one side of the bogey whilst one front wheel makes very unpleasant heavy metal music!

Think Simon Bowes of FJ fame knows his onions on these old buggers!

Do the wheels just spin when climbing in reverse or is there no drive getting to them? On a positive note reasembled the LV Star crane on our forwarding trailer, repaired pinion shaft on the slew motor and rebuilt the slew ring with new 18mm roller bearings, old ones were worn down to 16mm! So now the old crane works as good as new, Cost was 500quid much cheaper than buying a secondhand crane to replace the LV Star crane.

It will climb in reverse better if you turn the the tyres on one bogie the wrong way:thumbup:
