Have you thought about Vermeer SC252 Stump Grinder? A reliable bit of kit, good solid 27hp Kohler engine, narrow width of 35 inches. Easily the most respected stumpy in its class. I can arrange a quote under the £10k mark, with quite quick despatch.

Feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will provide you with product literature etc.

Could also offer some freebies. . . :)

Thanks for all the input so far. As usual lots of good comments based on hard-earned experience.

I must say that a lot of the jobs we do around town entail going through 'small' gates. I'm not sure where these mythical 'standard' 36 inch gates are, and most of them are followed by a sharp turn round sheds/ponds/greenhouses/walls.

A machine which is 2.something metres long AND nearly 3ft wide would not get into most of the gardens we do. I think a pedestrian machine with a big engine is therfore the most likely answer.

I know a chieftan tank with a 5,000 hp motor would be quicker but they just wont get to most 'town' stumps. If I do any monster park stuff I'll have to hire in a beast.

The comments on my 'tracked grinder' thread are leading me away from that idea.

Thanks again for all the input,

Shane

But you could lob a armourpiercing shell right into the root plate...

Would require a bit of raking and lawn seed after to put right though...

Sounds like the HB20 is the grinder your speaking of Shane, sold one last Thursday, Friday & delivered another today. The people only demo'd them for 20 minutes before deciding. The customers purchasing these will confirm why they decided Bandit.

We have had another two delivered yesterday & just re-ordered another five.

Hi Shane,

For what its worth I bought a HB20 from Dean last year and the whole deal was good. The customer service is brilliant and more importantly the grinder does everything I need it to do, and everything Dean said it would. Have a go before you buy I don't think you will find anything wrong with the HB20. We even use it sometimes to do stumps that a bigger machine should be doing but it eats it all up. It is a workout on a slope but all hand held machines are and I have never even nearly tipped mine. If mine got nicked tomorrow i would get another HB20, cheers.
