notice how flat the eye is, like a 16 strand splice where all the core's removed. This rope's a kernmantle construction and it share's the load between the sheath and the core. So you couldn't remove any of the core, so i'm sure thats why they us the sling?

I assume it's the same principal as the new platinum rope....

Its called a Slaice its not spliced its a dyneema loop inserted in to the rope which is then tucked into the cover and stitched, Kermantle ropes have their strength in the core, and the outer sheath is to protect it, thats why kernamntle lines are recommended with ascenders. I tried the fly its nice in the hand and stays very round due to its construction but its seriously bouncy. Its been around for a while(2001) and is considered by some a very outdated rope.

Also platinum is a double braid with the cover woven through the core at certain increments to stop the rope milking etc so its considered unsplicable and im not sure if they would bother slaicing it as its not a climbing line.

isnt it just the same as tachyon???? the new england one was.

Tachyon is a trade name for the construction of the rope which has a braided cover a braided core and then a third braided core in order to keep it round, Teuflberger bought out NEropes so they are the same company, however the teachyons are all different, the Teuflberger version is pretty static and very hard in the hand where the NE version is soft in the hand but bouncy as hell, think it might have something to do with the Ne version getting made in the US and the teuflberger version getting made in Europe.
