How much profit is there hauling timber?

I had a little leyland daf 7.5 tonne with hiab and tilt and slide. I found it went out about once a week and cost me £500 every 3 months to get it through the checks. Unless you have at least 3 days a week work for a truck its a mill stone. I think its 4 times as expensive to run than a 4x4 I would hate to think what it costs to keep an arctic on the road. I have always fancied taking my hgv 1 and getting an arctic for the fun of it. Nearly bought a little volvo urban arctic with a generator mounted on and running it as an emergency standby out fit, no operators or 6 weeks checks as I remember.
