Hero3 Black edition is the current winner! But is the ugliest and hardest to mount.

This is from a lot of review reading from others testing in snow sports and mountain biking.

Everyone wants the Contour but with the 60fps 1080p that Hero3 Black edition offers. So most are sitting on the fence waiting for Contour to take their crown back.

This is from the snowboarding community where these cameras came from I think..

Oh yeah battery life is something that the Hero is lacking versus the contour but the higher fps at 1080 is ultimately what is selling it.

And for good reason to :)

The drift was mentioned in all reviews and they all agreed it has sub par performance to hero and contour and there was mention of an offering to appear from Sony. Which IMO will be over priced lol

Conclusion

Hero 3 black edition

Contour+2

DriftHd

Hero2

If it helps anyone, I have just spent a week using the GoPro 3 Black extensively and to say its frustrating is an understatement.

Firstly I am a massive GoPro fan, so writing something negative about the 3 isn't because I'm a flamer and I think something else is better because I'm not and I don't. So with that in mind it's unbelievable to me that GoPro released this product with so many known problems.

Once you can get the thing working the quality is unreal, in fact it's so good that's it's not possible for most PC's to handle the 4K resolution. I found myself knocking the recording resolution down to 1080P as my mac just couldn't handle playing the videos and that's with an SSD drive and flash memory.

My other major complaint is that the battery life is rubbish, I ended up buying a second battery to ensure that I didn't get caught short. I am sure GoPro will fix all the known issues but for now if you want a hassle free camera don't go for the 3.

I really do fancy the drift HD purely for the price now the drift HD ghost is out and for what I need it to do.

Hero2 is tempting though
