Found these little critters atop one of my local Iron Age Hill Forts. I was out with colleagues but my inner fung nut got the better of me and i just had to get a picture.

Matt, when you find these more obscure (out of the woodland) type fungi you could try the wild about britian forum, those guys and girls are brilliant with these sort of fungi,

Looks a bit Entoloma like

 

Entoloma has pinkish spores, this is a Psilocybe, maybe P. montana.

Just looked at a job today in Cheshire . This was a private woodland of 4/5 acres . To my amazement nearly every other Birch tree had fungi growing on it ?

I was asked to remove all trees with fungi on them ? I explained to the client that would mean a massive loss and the local wildlife would suffer . The reply I got was brilliant and we have agreed to make safe only the trees along the footpath and highway . This guy's really up for encouraging wildlife so I have put him in touch with a local primary school who's head is eco friendly . win win . Oh we saw two Jays while on site beautiful birds

I believe there are 36 or 136 species of beetle dependant on thes epip brackets, you done good dude!

Couple of instances of Oak mazegill today.

 

One set on a prunning wound on a healthy Oak 30ft up, the other on a rapidly declining Oak.
