A. gallica (= A. lutea/bulbosa) has no distinct ring (zone), so :

 

1/4 : A. mellea with whitish ring

5/6 : probably A. ostoyae with dark brown scales at the margin of not yet opened ring

7 : A. mellea s.l. ?

 

All the Armillaria in those shots are on the same Wiilow stump Gerrit, all within 1m of each .

 

I'm thinking they are all the same species at different stages of development.

 

Will try to get back to see what the higher younger ones develop in to.

It wouldn't be the first time to see two species of Armillaria fruiting within short distance of one another on the same tree :001_huh: .

Aware of that & have seen it (probably posted it on a number of occasions) but the sequence of development of these didn't seem to have any older species other than the lower mellea in attendance.

 

If they are still there after the weekend I will try and get a range of mature specimens (from base to top) to show.
