I bet you're thinking it's actualy a "toad", aint ya :001_tt2:

 

Perenni ?.

 

nah something a little more rare than that, some subtle tones in it that indicate trametes,:001_cool:

 

on the other hand youve just reminded me perennit has pink hues at times too!

Bart, those images are good quality but im still none the wiser, looks too white for perenni, no margin (distinct in T. suaveolens) and doubt its T. gibbosa.

 

Perreniporia seems most likely given all the cues bar the overly white new layers, but in a position such as this it is also fruiting in an unsusual manner, as though on top a stump, so keep an eye on this and get some more in a month or so when it has developed more. Thanks for taking the time to show me.

David, your daedalea/odd bracket scenario, well came acros this in the vaults today and thought i might present it to you for perusal.

 

it cleary shows that daedalea quercina has an unusual pored surface, not discimilar to its true pore bearing underside, maybe this is an adaption, and like guttation assits in the drying of the body for sporalation?

 

just a thought.:001_cool: (im a strange fish as you know):lol:

 

maybe even, it creates airflow that pushes the spore through the top! radical dude!
