Not sure what this is. Found between buttresses on a maple. Looks coral like.:confused1:

Image is a little out of focus to be sure but I would think your description would indicate it to be one of the Clavulina sp

Any idea on mine David? They're like little up-right tubes. The nearest I could find was coral tooth, Hericium coralloides, but it isn't that close and doesn't really match.

Edit ; You replied while I was typing, I'll have a look at that, in my books, when I get into work. Thank you.

Found this on an Ash today, Inonotus hispidus I think? Looking closely at the upper side of the bracket, there seems to be some claw marks! Also, anyone know what the cobweb like stuff underneath is? (Or is it just a cobweb?!) :001_smile:

Cheers....Phil

Might have to do a bit of a reduction on this Ash as it is leaning over a cross country course for horsey people! Mind you, a few less of them wouldn't be such a bad thing!

Do you think that the fungus is decaying wood associated with the dead branch or will it be getting into the sound wood of the tree as well?
