Not sure, neither me or marc who was working with me on this job could decide what the stump was.

It was tucked right behind a very established conifer hedge so i think the tree must been taken down a good while ago.

Revisited a site I knew had Daedalea quercina - Oak maze gill, on a dropped Oak limb.

(branch on ground behind tree, last pic)

Found that it is now fruiting on this dysfunctional butress on the Tree.

As seen on the M6 nr brum this morning !!!:confused1:

I had to look a bit closely at that one...Perhaps it proves the theoretical notion that the FB's are "aerodynamic"...well we know they are...you only got to look at them to know what a good frisbee some of them would make.

Less wind resistance equals longevity of host due to not being blown over or some such nonsense.:001_tongue:

Perhaps the trailer will get rolled and we will witness " geotropic" growth patterns....Two research theses in one....:001_smile:

Great find mate!

We did try to engage the driver of the tow car in a discussion on fungal hiphe and the transportation of said between hosts. To our complete suprise he responded with some kind of bizzar hand sighn gestures that neither myself or my crew member could understand.

Most perturbing.
