That was my second thought David but I've not seen it often enough to know if the orientation was right stacked as it is here, I've only seen bjerkendra flat on stem.. it fits size and colour for sure

been meaning to put these up for a while, as there's not much work photos on tonight. Its the end result of felling a large beech with suspect gano australis and a bit of kretch I posted on here a while ago. I will try to put the pics in some sort of sensible order. We took it down as kids bus stop underneath and very busy road pavement etc.

This is an interesting one - I think this is Ganoderma applanatum at the base of a Norway Spruce. Not something I have seen before but the texts I have here suggest that it's not unheard of.
