That's one exposed beast.

Not surprised its showing the history & scars of failures.

But surprised its still standing as whole as it is.

 

 

Is the replacement it own prodginy?

 

Any close ups of the base?

Yes David it is very exposed to the elements but is coping ok, the young tree is its own offspring propagated but the owner and now about 4ft tall protected buy rabbit and deer guards I'm sure and 200/300 years to come the next generation of climbers will get some enjoyment out of it! Wonder if we will get a mention?? Haaaa!

Got to give some credit where credit is due. A young college lad Andrew Creek came along, never tried SRT to access a tree before. Set him up on the RW and pretty much that was it, he went straight to the top, was swinging about, limb walking to the tips. I was very impressed with his abilities to say the least.
