Mine get pigeon carcasses minus breasts, and necks and wings off pheasant. Minced tripe is probably a good way to start, with mashed banana and oats. Chicken wings are a good treat too, ideal meat to bone ratio.

Peter, interesting post there mate. Do you give the pigeons whole, feathers and everything bar breasts?! And same with pheasent? Really want to get my spaniel onto game more often and I have near unlimited supply!

Rabbit is ok, the key phrase is meaty bones, there should be a good proportion of meat to bone. A chicken wing is about perfect, feeding all steak wouldn't work, neither would just bones. Meaty bones should make up 60-70% of the diet, the rest can be fruit and veg, and the soft squishy bits, heart liver tripe etc.

+1 for BARF.

Got a mate that races Malamutes and all his dogs are on BARF, only trips to the vet are for the complex stitching jobs (split pads, torn puncture wounds etc) that he's not happy doing.

Considering putting my 3 on to it, at the moment I feed mix of rabbit & venison when I can.

Dean, good with sorting him out.
