How many Arbtalkers are AA members

We started the process of becoming arb approved, following their requirements which was very useful.

When I then started to correspond with them it all fell apart.

I felt they were not proactive at trying to get us on board there scheme, and very difficult to work with.

Very little benefit from been approved from what I have researched.

That was 3 years ago busier than ever

Yes, since being a student a few years ago.

Magazine is decent and events (though far between in Scotland) have been good too. AGM was in Dundee last year, this years is at Dawyck botanic gardens at the end of the month. Have been to Mattheck, bs3998, keith sacres planting and a couple of others in Scotland since being a member

Hi Badger,

The question from Jaime was prinicaplly aimed at 'members' as opposed to 'arb approved contractors' but still very relevant.

I'm really sorry, and to be honest equally 'really surprised', you had correspondence problems with us as Mel(anie) who admins the scheme is always very good and prompt with enquiries. I can only presume for some reason yours fell between the cracks and again I am sorry for that (more likely to be my non-action than Mel's in all honesty.)

I'm glad to hear you're busier than ever, that speask volumes about you and the business, but I'd be really intersted to hear more about your research, i.e. how / where / when / who etc. so if you get 5 please give me a call (07971 995351) or 'pm' me.

Thanks in anticpation.

Cheers..

Paul

Yes, have been for a number of years now although I haven't yet renewed for 2013 - better get on and do that.

Thinking about the huge number of thefts already this year, is there anything that the AA could do to bring this into the spotlight?

The police don't seem interested in doing anything other the dishing out crime report numbers but will have to act if there is political/public pressure.

There must have been a dozen robberies posted on Arbtalk and we're not even two weeks into the year. Considering probably not all thefts are posted and that Arbtalk only represents a small percentage of GB's tree surgeons, the actual number of crimes and cost to the industry must be staggering!

I totally agree. I hadn't seen the post requesting comments so I think I will pass them on, thanks.

HCR, I think we're on the same page here. However I think that the habitats regs course is probably a higher level training course. I thought the RA one was ideal or people who had never tackled risk assessments before.

Anyway, I believe it's AA subs time again. So ideal time for a chat.

Have been a member in the past, but not now.

I see AAAC as nearer to a "franchise" than an accreditation scheme, I do not want to be told how to run my business.

Been AAAC since 1990 and cannot remember when I was told how to run my business by anyone from AA, some times wish some would tell me, they may make a better job of it:thumbup1:.
