First big reduction tomorrow

I will always prune to growth points especially on willow.

This willow was reduced 25% two years ago the regrowth is 2 ft, all the wounds will compartmentalise and reactive growth is minimal... Show me the regrowth on a two years topped willow and it will be atleast 2 metres.

it required a major reduction because it had been "topped"around 25 years ago and also large branches removed that never compartmentalised resulting in the stem full of white rot and the result was large limbs being shed. I really do not agree you can just "top" certain species because they put out shoots... Or whatever the excuse is .. The end result is a flawed structure that is prone to failure and rot.
