Irish footpath vs beech tree

If I were a betting man, I'd say it will be gone soon enough. Its difficult to assess from the photos, but my first concern would be the adjacent house.

 

I would kick for touch and have it felled. If the residents are so 'tree' happy, are they planting much??

 

Thats the problem that I see. People feel guilty or want to save the last one. If we hadnt got such over mature trees, with nothing, and only some god awful street trees thrown in a corner somewhere; it would make felling so much easier.

 

I have been preaching to anyone that listens, that we have to plant more. Sure its a pain, and they will be put in the wrong place. But even young trees look good.

 

The council (in this case) or sub contractors arent to blame here.
