Hello

Im an Arborist from Canada looking to come over to the Uk/Europe to work for the 2013 summer season. I am lucky enough to have duel citizenship with Ireland so I wont need to require a work visa. Iv got 6 years of climbing experience, 2 years of schooling for arboriculture and 2 years of experience running my own tree service.

Im wondering what kind of wages I should expect to make if I where to work in the UK?

Also what other English speaking countries in Europe might be good places for me to work?

Thanks

Pat

China, although its not English speaking so learn Mandarin.

Britain, along with the US etc is on its economic downward slope. We've enjoyed a few centuries of power and prosperity, these things don't last.

I'm not even joking.

You won't enjoy a prosperous career here but you could be part of the new rise of Asia.

Yeah doesn't sound as promising as I hopped... Maybe ill head down under or to New Zealand instead.

Yeah I would, at least you'll get some descent weather. With the weather we've had in this year, you'll soon need gills and webbed feet to work here.

Other areas in Europe worth considering outside UK and Ireland. Maybe Sweden, most Swede's speak and understand English very well. You could also try "damian" on this site. A Brit based in Vienna, Austria, all of his crew are usually native English speakers. Vienna is a cracking place and again many of the locals have a good command of a bit of English.

Salaries in UK for treework can be a bit piss poor & can vary quite a bit, on a sliding scale North to South, from £300 - £700. With perhaps the average being around £400 everywhere outside South/South East. The top end of this scale you'll usually only find in London area, where cost of living is sunstantially higher (oh.... and be "top-notch"!).

These websites might help give you a feel for the UK treework jobsmarket, if you have'nt already tried them. They also have sections for internatial vacancies in UK/Europe/Oz/NZ:-

Good luck mate. :thumbup1:
