Sorry i should have mentioned them in the first post. There were also field Maple, Horsechestnut, Alder, Liquidamber, Lime & Ash. All planted about 3yrs ago.

I don't think you should rule out Acute Oak Decline

 

 

Although that's usually reported on young mature specimens

and the field maple (acer campestre) ash (fraxinus excelsior) and Lime (Tillia cordatta?) have no symptoms at all?

They have none of the symptoms that are showing on the Oaks. All the other species looked ok. The trees have been planted randomly in two rows in three seperate fields & the majority of the Oaks are showing the symptoms shown in the photos.

that the other trees havent been damaged is significant ash acer and lime would have been taken FIRST. get a sample off to somebody, these trees are too young to be showing this kind of symptoms, as David said,dont rule anything out.

 

I would have expected to hear damage to the acers and ash at least

look for white mycelium in fan shape patterns, and rhzomorphs. also look out for bleeding on trees withought the loss of bark yet.

Ok, went back to the site this arvo & took some more photos.

No evidece of mycelium or rhizomorphs, as you can see the 4th pic a lime,

5th pic an Alder & last a field maple are all ok & that's the same for the rest of them species throughout the site. The photos from today shows little bark loss if any but i think they're going to go the same as the others. The 6th pic is approx 8 ft up showing bark loss & it's the same for the majority of the oaks displaying them symptoms.
