Malus fracture prune !!!!!!!!

There's a malus I am going to reduce as it has white rot fungi and woodpecker holes in the larger stems it has had some branches fail which have made fractures and epi has sprouted just wondering if it is ok to fracture prune the rest of it to stop complete failure

I see, so rip it, to make it a more natural cut, a bit like a coronet cut?

Not really.

 

A coronet is created to mimic a rough branch end.

Fracturing increases exposed wound wood which increases the opportunity for adventitious bud development from the callous tissues.
