Best way to clean a saw without an air compressor.

I clean the air filter and some build up of crud in the brake cover, the rest ...never ever, and some I've had for 10plus years, why clean a chainsaw like a car?, (just curious)

 

In my experience it has a lot of advantages.

 

It acts as a detailed inspection exposing loose bits, damaged bits, leaks etc.

 

I can't understand people who don't see the benefit of keeping any mechanical piece of kit clean...and I'm no petrol head.

 

Try it on your truck, you may find diesel leaks and save loads of money.

I have to say that getting a saw in that needs fixing there is nothing I hate more than spending the first hour cleaning the damn thing.....

 

And guaranteed the bit that is broken is the part that has never been cleaned.

Not a chainsaw I know but we steam clean our wood processor every 3 years. That dusty oily coating does one thing. Keeps the rust out looks like new when you come to sell. If we steamed it every month the paint would be faded and every thing covered in rust.
