the 2012 T5 brochure gives the difference in length between SWB & LWB as 400mm.

No indication of distance from the side door to the back, but the load space behind the first row of seats is 1739mm in LWB and 1339 in SWB

Wheel bases are also 400 difference so they just slot in an extra 400mm in front of the back wheels it seems.

Had my T5 for a few months now, 3000 miles for me on a total of 21000 miles. Nice drive, and empty I once managed 44mpg on a steady run. Loaded with a few tools it is doing about 37 mpg. The clutch is not as predictable to use as you might expect so I have stalled it a fair few times. But I am getting used to it. Otherwise it is a very comfy drive and everything is in the right place with large storage pockets in the doors. It has a very tight turning circle. More worrying is the clutch overheated rather too easily when giving it a very hard time reversing up a slope with braked trailer (which reminds me I must get those trailer brakes checked over).

VW T4 swb 1000kg 96 p reg. Best thing I ever bought and the worst thing I ever sold, big regret getting rid of it. Sheets of 8x4, pallets of bricks (1.3 tons) and an Ifor williams with another pack of bricks on no problem. The little 1.9l 68 hp diesel never failed once. I got in 2001 mint with 40k on the clock ran it for 9 years and only had to replace the back exhaust, battery and cam belt plus the occasional pair of tyres, oh and a rear spring. I would bet that I could have seen 200k on the clock if I kept long enough. I'd have another if I could.
