Any thoughts on ads for this year? Yellow pages etc.

Do you increase advertising in an effort to grab what little work there may be or pare to the bone and save a little money now?

Been on yell.com for two months and not the best. Only had a few calls but waiting for the yellow pages in April so fingers xD. I feel that local forums or newsletters are the best, 75% of my work comes from these1

Yellow Pages for me, along with all the local newspapers and magazines etc.

Yell.com is a waste of time.

Most of my work is word of mouth or from big contracts that I pick up, although I do have a few contacts, which sort me out a great deal.

Never got on with yellow pages, i'm on yell.com coz it was free. Most of my work comes from my local paper, which costs £80 per month word of mouth and parish mags. Oh ye and my web site which i also got free, friend of a friend etc.

I think flier drops are quite good also, I've paid paperboys/girls to put one through the letter box whilst delivering their papers.

I was always told you have to speculate to accumulate.:confused1:

Yell.com, word of mouth. never used parish mags. how do you find out how to advertize in one :001_cool:

I advertize in a few and for value you can't beat it. £25 a year!! for a 1\6 page ad. Normally to get in them I pick one up from a client and contact the editor of the mag this will get the ball rolling. Stick to the rural parishes as this seems to generate more replies.

Imo i think word of mouth is always the best, and also on here. I've just paid over £600 for yellow pages ad which has just been printed, thought it was a bit steep to be honest.
