Nylon webbing foot holds work great if you feel you may gaff out.

I ahve a sternal grab I use often to hold my centre of balance firm.

As long as the piece you are handling is manageable working underside can

be safer because your centre of balance is suspended with lesss chance of tipping.

I agree with Albedo as well. Side pull adds stability,

Remember your ground guys can also help to hold you in a secure position.

I might just add that if anyone does use a tree that's miles off to one side for a bit of side support...it can cease to be your primary / secondary anchor if the swing is too great.

The ideal procedure would be to have your own main line choked below your strop as normal. If possible the line off to the side is borrowed of a spare kit or second climber. A second climber might even put it up for you if you ask nicely.

You make a great point Albedo.

I also practice with chaninsaw in hand to mimic the cut. Similar to stepping off a penatlty goal.

The point of this is to adjust your position to compensate for the

shift in centre of balance when operating the saw thru to completion of

the cut.

Remember a chainsaw at arms length will add approximately 100lbs to

the levers end.

Thumb on the shut off as always and at the ready if slip or gaff out or rotation occurs.

Everyone has a climbing style a tend towards the sloth it is a bit slower but predictable.

Slow and steady wins the race, haste makes waste and perfect practice makes perfect.

Making the pay cheque well into our future is what needs to be considered over the pay cheque from the day.

Will- all the bus stop and parking signs in Auckland can be lifted out of the ground- there just held by a small pin or grub screw. That may make things easier if you know.

It's not beat practice but having your lanyard around the tree and back to the same point/side d can help to stop you slipping under Te stem. You could use 2 lanyards if you wanted. In a big company like 'splundh you won't get thanked for going the extra mile if you hurt ya self, the guys doing line clearance will jump at the chance to get away from the lines. Remember there's a massive staff shortage, don't let them pressure you.( but good on ya for getting stuck in bro)

Ah ... didn't know that lol cheers Drew :thumbup1:

Why do you think its hard for big companies to get staff over here? :confused1: If this set up was in the UK they'd be overcome with applications left right and centre. We worked out that they paid roughly $8000 just to get us 4 new english lads into the country so it shows it must be an issue.

Got your fb message bro, will have to meet up for a climb/beer sometime with josh :thumbup1:
