Here are the Golden rules .

 

1. Overprice it . ( I use to get so frustrated and angry with leylandii hedges until a moment of clarity from Mark Bolum who said it stemmed from underpricing them and he was absolutely right )

 

2. Blame the previous tree surgeon for poor workmanship by saying he has stuffed old arisings down the middle of the hedge ( good to have already some prepped in your hand to chuck out as you tell the client )

 

3. Get them to PHYSICALLY POINT to a spot on the hedge they want it reduced to . ' just do it to the same as the one at the back ' or something similar wont do ( its amazing how hard it is to get them to do this )

i like hedges with this 5 days work done in 2 and yes i know you cant use it all the time shame:thumbdown:

 

We had 10km of council hedges to do and hired a finger bar cutter and compact tractor. Sent it back after a couple of days as the finish was not good enough, clearup a pain as you need to rake waste of the tops. Quicker to have an extra man who can cut and then help clear up IMO.

thats the trouble with hired in , the boxer is a controled cut and i keep it nice and slow like using a pair of securters and the best is it is kept sharp, you could shave with it
