One very long night. So now at ten in morn I'm off to bed night night.

Wednesday 27th February 2026 : Dover Lifeboat launched on service to assist the Ramsgate lifeboat at the scene of the Tug and Tow MTS Taktow which had run foul of the South Falls buoy.

On arrival on scene both lifeboats stood by while the tug used the tide to assist in freeing itself from the buoy. During this process the tow parted. Ramsgate lifeboat initially got a line on the tow, which parted. The tug Taktow eventually freed itself from the buoy and proceeded South to pick up his tow. Whilst manouvering to pick up the tow, the tug fouled his Starboard propellor, though the tow connection was completed, but only at short scope. Further tug assistance was requested, and another company tug the MTS Valiant responded and proceeded to help. On arrival of the MTS Valiant at 0142, the tow was transferred and the tug Taktow escorted by the lifeboat toward Dover. When close to Dover the tug Taktow, decided that he would return to assist the tug MTS Valiant in getting the tow to Dover, but as the tug was still some way off and not expected to be off Dover until around Noon, the tug Taktow has gone to anchor near St Margarets Bay.

Dover lifeboat returned to station at 0430 after 8 hours at sea. The crew are now on standby, ready to proceed to sea again, if the situation with the 2 tugs deteriorates during the day, or during the attempt to enter Dover.

Well that was a bit of fun tonight.

A dredge had scooped up a UXB, had to go out and escort the dredge to a safe place away form shipping lanes and take 10 non vital crew off it. Then back to boat house to drop them off and take he bomb disposal or OED out to take a look. They decided to control explode it out in Chanel.

Nice bit of fireworks I must say. Back to boathouse and home in time for tea.

Well. Thought I might have a lie in today..... Yeah right.

Pager went off and I was out like a jack rabbit.

A life raft floating in channel. No one in it :confused1:.

Not a good sign, but with no distress call out, and no flares spent a god four hours on search pattern and no debri found. Called it off.

On one note I was at the helm and turned the boat into the trough and sat in it, NOT a good place to be, one of the emergency tags got caught on the Perspex windows we have on the bridge and set it off, not me but a crew member. Don't think I have laughed that hard in a long time.:lol::lol:

Tonight's shout.

Person reported to be cut off by tide. Turns out he was happy fishing off the rocks. Home now in time for tea.

First shout this month. It's been too quite this year. Only a total of 7 shouts since Xmas.

Come on yacht people do something silly already

Don't really mean that bit. Just gets a bit tedious training all the time and not actually doing anything.

Today's callout.

A dinghy spotted by a passing freight ship. Went out for a look. Found a long very heavy piece of rope. 2' diameter, a pallet. Loads of other rubbish and a dinghy.

Thankfully no one in it, just loose in the water. Recovered and returned to station.

Pager went off just as I walked into a shop in town. Thought it was the alarm going off for a second.

Man I love being a crewman.
