hi guys,

can anybody point me in the right direction to get a cheap copy of bs3998? it looks like an important bit of reading on my online arb cert course with myerscough. i found a site selling it for £150, that's crazy! i thought as h&s recommendation sort of publication it would be for free.

cheers

You can get the bs3998 tree work recommendations a concise guide from tree life for about £30 quid or so

Its not the full copy but it's what I got until I can get hold of a cheaper version of the full bs3998 which I do think the AA are tying to make happen

Not sure if that helps or not

Hi there,

Whilst BSI did contact us a while ago now concerned that they weren't selling as many copies of the standard as they anticipated and "did we have any thoughts why?", we haven't heard a thing (poss as we did mention their pricing structure was prohibitive.)

Hence, have a look here Bs3998

Cheers all..

Paul

If you're a student you can access it for free through online journals. Ask your course leader.

hi paul,

thanks for your reply, my tutor said i could pop in to the college and use the paper version, but the whole idea of doing online course is not to have to go there :-)

Your tutor is wrong then  Or maybe online students have different access rights to online journals (that really would be ridiculous!).

I am a student at Myerscough too, and have accessed all British Standards online. I can't remember exactly how I got there, but assuming you have a login for Athens/Shibolleth you should be able to find them all.

If you buy the full version you will be even less impressed:(

hi paul,

does it mean you have a full version? any chance i could have a look for few days, it looks like they like quotes from it on my course:001_smile:
