Now buy my MB Trac parts direct through Mercedes Commercial Vehicle spares department as I was fed up of being ripped off by "Unimog" specialists who bought from the same source then added there extortionate mark up. Make sure you take the full chassis number of your MB Trac otherwise there clueless as to where to start looking. Any problems go on the German MB Trac forums but you will need a bit of German to understand what there on about.

yes, merc commercial, they can usually beat the "specialists" every time, and they supply the right bits, but make sure youve got the full chassis no for them, the DPC system wont work right without it,(Im lucky, got a really switched on storeman in our local one, and he knows how to work the merc systems.)

You're right there agrimog; you're very lucky!

We've bought parts from a Mercedes main dealer as well and it's essential to have the chassis number (you can barely start a conversation with them without being asked for it).

Still, if the guy on the computer is useless, you can be let down. I have received wrong parts before, even though I had the chassis number. So you need to make sure they can describe parts back to you, and where they belong, according to their diagrams before you commit to spending big money that you might not get back once spent....

jmac, I'm sure most people on these forums have access to e-mail so I assume you do to; so don't be afraid to ask the parts guys in a dealership to e-mail you whatever diagram they are looking at if there is any doubt over what they're about to order for you. They guy I dealt with most times was quite happy to e-mail me stuff like that as we spoke over the phone and it saved us ordering wrong parts a couple of times.

My tractor came with two green parts books one for the engine and the other for the rest of the tractor. The part numbers should be the same as on the Merc computer system although I have had the occasional part with a revised part number. Occasionally the part books come up on the bay and I think you can still get them online direct from Merc.
