Stihl MS200T Problem

Hi,

I am new to arbtalk and this is my first post so please be nice.

I have brought a Sithl ms 200t last year. When I have used it to cut and it is on tick over it just cuts out! It is VERY frustrating and i have to start it up for every cut. I think it is a 2004 model but because i brought it second hand, the lable had worn off.

Does anyone know what i can do to try and fix it?

Thanks

Liam

Welcome. The three screws operate the low and high revs end the third is tickover. Adjust the tickover until the bar just about moves then turn back quarter turn. Try this if this fails check the obvious first. Air filter clean, spark plug is good. Remove the spark plug and attach the lead, while holding this against the engine casing (cooling fins are good) pull the starter and see if you are getting good spark. Do this when engine is warm.

Does it do it cold or only after using it for a while? Will it do it if you leave the saw running and allow it to warm up or just when you make it work hard?

It does it more when I have just started it up but i still does it a fair bit after i have used it for a while. I am in Birmingham and i do have a mechanic who knows his stuff but i just wanted to see if i could fix it myself and try and learn more whilst doing it! Thanks for all of the advice. I will be very busy tomorrow with it
