HI All,

I need to get a chipper & another log splitter again.

just want to ask what other people use /do?

1- get a towable chipper6-8" gm/tw etc.. £5000 ish

2- get a towable splitter (looking @ wallenstein wx520) £2000 ish

or

3.

get a tidy classic tractor (50 - 80hp) £3000 ish

with a wood chipper costing £1500

and a splitter costing £500

just want other people inputs to see if im missing majour points.

the way i see it option 1&2 might be better but more expensive and/or could i make do with option 3 (lower runing costs etc)

thanks for your help josh

If you can do all the splitting / chipping in the one / same place all the time then the tractor option . If you need to move from job to job then tow-able or am I missing something ?

Depends on the work your doing a big pto chipper will make the big jobs seem a lot easyer and go a lot quicker. We run both a trailed machine and a tractor one and I would always take the tractor if there is room to set it up. And if you've got a good tractor with a 40-50kph box they wount be fare behind any lorry or truck. Though you are talking a lot more money to have one worth having but you'll be able to take on the big jobs with less men!:thumbup1:
