Iv recently been given a Stihl SH85 blower/vacuum blower and im curious about anyones experience with this model. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :001_smile:

I have one . Forget about the vacuum / shredder bit . Not worth the effort . As a blower in is superb . Take away all the curly pipes and the little shredder blades in the air intake and its the same as a BG85 . ( you can leave the little blades on ) . If you want a leaf vac you should be looking at a Billy Goat or similar . Thumbs up as a blower though .

On the flip side, I have one and was pleased with it's results. I got it to save bending so much, in particular when doing formal box parterre where it's vital to remove all cut matter off the plants and gravel. I've also used it for final clear ups once the raking is done, rather than blow stuff into the hedge base only for it to blow back out after the first puff of wind. I compared it to a macculloch blower/vac I had years ago, much improvement. I've also used it for sawdust removal from lawns in smart places where the final tidy is very important. Gets a  from me.

Yup you've hit the jackpot there. This is one of my most important bits of kit. I use it in blower mode for most of the year.

Have found the vac good for quickly clearing fire escapes and awkward corners where the leaves end up down the back of your neck if you use the blower. Also good for sucking up raffle tickets and rubbish at our annual fete. And good to quickly drop the temperature in my polytunnel in emergencies. Its bloomin versatile !!!

Have only had to replace the fins and blade once in three years and replace a wire on the ignition. :thumbup1:

Just wear waterproof trousers if your sucking up wet leaves or you'll like like you've had an accident.
