Hmmm.. what to do??

Fellas (and ladies),

Wanted to ask for advice from some of you.

Currently work with my local council which ties me up Monday to Fridays, but I'm seriously thinking about calling that quits.

Obviously given the current climate out there, that's not a decision I can take lightly. Now it's not what I want to do as it's not tree orientated, but it is regular income.

I'm finding myself in catch 22 now with a couple of people offering occassional tree work, and I'm not currently able to accept it if it's during the week - which isn't helping me in terms of gaining the experience I know I need before the likelihood of anyone taking me on full time.

I need to have a serious think over the next couple of days about what I'm going to do. I'm trying to weigh up if I should leave where I currently am (which is only guarenteed until October and is shite pay) and take my chances with occassional work and set myself up doing gardening inbetween (before the winter sets in).

I'm 30 now and the sooner I get into Arboriculture, the better. There's never going to be a good time I guess, and especially now as winter sets in... but..

Advice?

Cheers,

Robbo

Adam, cheers for the post. Have reached out to a few firms, still have a few on my list to contact too.

You work for the council.. Probably on a good pension, get free training and gear as well ... Stay there!

Matty, I wish! It's a contract job, so no pension or training, have had to pay for that myself. Got let go last November, and taken back in May so not really holding out for surviving again when winter season kicks in. Took my CS30, 31 & 38 in the months I was out of work.
