I used to find that there wasn't a great deal of money in hedges, but in actual fact over the years I have more and more new clients that are willing to pay a good price for a quality job. and whats more, I really enjoy hedge cutting.

I personally would be very careful passing on all hedge work as quite often this leads to a decent tree job . A lot of trust would be needed for this to work out.

It could end up losing you a lot of work . I,m not being funny or having a go , its just how I see it :001_smile:

my answer to this is that I would not class sub-contracting jobs as my clients, any tree work I would be honest and pass on to origional contractor. :thumbup1:

Im not a huge fan of hedge cutting but you can earn £350 - £500 a day they are cut twice a year and nearly always lead to more tree work so can't complain.

I hated hedge cutting so gave away all of my jobs to another firm in return for all of their stump grinding jobs, and it worked out very well for both of us.

Then a couple of years ago when things started to go quiet I picked up a few of the better hedges I was offered and in conjuction with a few new tools, fresh legs and a more efficent approach im back doing it with a smile on my face.

Hedging is a service industry like everything else, so it has a price. Most clients would rather spend time on the golf course than trimming their hedges. Of course there's trimming and trimming (making a complete hash of it). Good money to be earned for a good job well done

hi scott

I do charge for the job but base my quote on duration X hourly rate otherwise with my small amount of experience of quoting I would be just guessing.
