Dryads saddle. Need to look when I get home, can't see in the aye phone!

 

Not quite Polyporus squamosus, I reckon the Inonotus is right. Cheers Rob and Steve, not one I've seen in the flesh before

Hi all,

 

Found this on a plane yesterday, growing on decayed wood in a cavity. Any chance of an ID please?

Right Genus, wrong species in my opinion.

 

Not I. dryadeus but I. hispidus - the shaggy bracket.

 

The host here is the key.

dryadeus not known (as far as i can recall) on plane, but hispidus does.

 

The gutation (droplets) are the confusion here perhaps.

dryadeus is well known to present this, but hispidus not so.

 

These shots below show hispidus (on ash in this instance) with gutation.
