I agree with Andy. Military or not, I think you are putting far too much faith in human nature. I've seen first hand that ex military are no different whatsoever when it comes down to business on civvy street

 

I'm not suggesting that everyone who has been in the military is now in some moral way better then those that have not, but what I have found is that the army attracts a certen sort of person and that's somebody who is willing to go to the worst hell hole on earth and put his life on the line and get paid peanuts for doing it!

In my opinion and from my experience these people are not usually driven by money but by pride!

Non of the blokes I employ today have spent time in the army and I wouldn't think any less of them then people that have, they have and still do prove to me every day that they are fully committed at doing what it takes to get the job done and keep the company going strong.

 

I may be pissing in to the wind but as being an ex squodie it wouldn't be the first time I've had a face full of piss :thumbup: and to be honest if I didn't give it a go then I would always regret it......

I don't think the franchise is such a good idea, as previously stated, but hey, why not give it a shot? One query, you mention the morals of ex-military, how can you be sure that they will all share your ideals? Nice idea, but I'm sure the human element will be an issue, and what tied people in the military I can't see tieng them in civvy street. Like I said, I could be wrong. Perhaps more of an ex-mil recruitment for Arb could be a better idea, perhaps getting them trained and finding them placements with other companies? Given the state of the economy, all this is going to be a struggle.

Plenty of people have been told their ideas will never work, and they go out and prove everyone wrong! So just coz we're not convinced doesn't really mean a thing:001_smile: let's face it, if we were all brilliant businessmen I'm sure we wouldn't be cutting trees for a living. Training, recruitment and placement is the Big Thing in this country right now, so if the niche is there for service leavers then good luck.

Trainng and recrutement Sounds like the sensible solution and would definately satisfy my want to help out service leavers but I wouldn't know where to start!! It's obviously where the money is but I can't get my head around how to start without making huge investments!

I think you may find Richard Olley at Kingswood Training has that area covered nicely with all the relevant funding options for service leavers.

 

Maybe, but I did some training with him and had to pay a fortune for accommodation, there's nothing in the south west and the market is plenty big enough for all of us!!

Who knowes what will happen but if you see any posts from ex army guys looking for work then please direct them my way and I will do what I've always done and go with the flow.
