i had the same problem. try engaging it with a booster pack or jump leads on. if it then works and youve tested your battery then its probably the regulator/rectifier part no. 41 403 09-s.

hope this works.

interesting

i charged the battery up and the clutch/cutter head engaged. i was wondering if low power would struggle to engage the clutch

Yes it would, the clutch operates on a coil, if the voltage is to low the coil won't energise properly resulting in a low field output, or in laymans terms a duff battery means a weak or no clutch, sort the battery problem solved.

Hi there lads, i was just about to open a thread about my rayco rg20hd, at the start of the job it fires up fine sometimes battery flat but starts with jump leads, clutch engages fine but after a stump i have the throttle locked on the handle but the revs drop about half and i struggle to grind anything, i dont know whether its the throttle cable stretched, any ideas or has any one else had this trouble?

many thanks hamdogg
