Carved this naive Heron (sic) out of Beech about 3 years ago.

 

Here it is now having sprouted some winter plummage

 

Not completely sure on the Id, but I'm leaning towards Trametes versicolor " Turkey Tail"

Guess it could be called "Heron Tail" now :blushing:

nice carving but i was thinking the fungi was many zoned polypore (coriolus versicolor) but hey it does give the old bird a winter coat lol

Naahh, he's more of a Tatty man is our Bob, he were dragged up not brought up.

Nice carving.

Looks like a Heron to me, nice plumage.

 

Be thinking of inoculating some of my mushroom carvings with mushroom mycelium. Any one tried it?
