I believe that by 2014 we will have to have CPC if driving is part our daily job. When one of my guys took his C test he argued the toss with the examiner about having to have CPC and the examiner eventually admitted what Treequip has just posted. I.e. If driving isn't what you are principally employed for you don't need it.

Nothing is changing in 2014 Paul, the regs are already in force. The only difference is that existing drivers grandfather rights will expire and we will all come into the same rolling 35 hours over 5 years system as new drivers.

Most arb workers would be classed as incidental users and therefore not need cpc, if you spend most of your working time cutting the tree down or processing the wood then drive the arb waste away or deliver logs the driving is classed as incidental to your main business. VOSA give the example of a builder collecting a lorry load of bricks in the morning from the merchants driving them to site and spending the rest of the day laying the bricks, the driving element is incidental to his main work of laying the bricks so he doesn't need cpc!
