You know those little, funny looking square bar-code things you see everywhere.

Does anyone here have any experience with them - good or bad? I'm looking at making use of them for a couple of client's we're working on and would value any feedback - have any of your customers ever actually used them to get in touch with you?

I notice there's a couple of sponsors on here that are using them in their banner ads, (which seems to be missing the point of them rather spectacularly - to be looking at this site, you're already ON the internet... Why not just add a normal link?), but what about the rest of you?

I dont know about what your on about, but my sons Plant Centre has many of the plant labels with QRcoding. Now clients can walk around and ping on a label and bring up all the info about the plant. I was quite impressed. Of course, many people dont have a clue about all this technology.

Its one of these, you can add any details you want and it's free. If you have android or iphone you can download the reader/creator for it.

You can create your own QR codes using services like this: http://createqrcode.appspot.com/ or http://www.qrstuff.com/

You can simply add text, or a link to a website (in the form http://your-website.co.uk ).

If you want to track the usage, I suggest creating special links for use by QR Codes, by registering on http://bit.ly or http://goo.gl (or similar sites). Then you can collect statistics about how many clicks were made using the link, when they clicked, which device (iPhone etc) etc.

I think they're good. If you scan mine with your phone you can quickly put my contact details into your contact list. They're not just for the web. There are a couple of driving instructors around here who have them on their signwritten cars - makes it a doddle for someone to save their info.
