Hey guys, problems with I.D-ing this tree. my two groundsmen have hijacked this once already, but they are now locked up for the night so its back to i .

 

I do need to try and id this for a friend who needs to plot the tree on a survey prior to digging footings. Any help is appreciated.

haha...im stuck. At first i thought Alder when i saw the cone, but then the pic of the tree and leaves has got me scratching??

It's alder I'm telling you, look up alder fruit, yeah the cones look a bit weird becuase they are oper but the stalks?

They don't look anything like alder leaves though.

But they are a little dry, the bottom right one looks about right for alder

yeah they look dry but clearly elliptical in shape, plus the picture of the actual tree doesn't look like any Alder i have ever worked on??

Alder leaves are alot darker green though, look up alder on google or in an I'd book and you will see.
