Spiderjack 2.1 - Have I knackered it??

I had same prob. Take the lever off and see if the grub screw will screw in without it. If it does what i did was file a flat spot on the pin of the lever so when the lever is in place you can screw the grub in a bit further than before. Just dont file too much of so it weakens it. Im gona tap mine out to next size up when i get round to it but that little mod has worked as good as new since i did it.

sounds like a plan...have spoken to HB who say they'll post back to ART to get it re-thread, no idea on cost yet tho...if it's a silly amount then may well try your idea...cheers

Well after bodging my lever back in with the grub screw I come unstuck today, I was dead wooding a very tall woodland ash I accessed the tree using srt I then switch to ddrt with my sj I clipped in got ready to go went to pull my lever and it had gone lol, trouble was my friend was in the tree next tome so I had to wait for him to send me up my hc, they need to address the grub screw situation as it is not man enough for the job.

Am I right in saying that this lever is scalloped so the rope runs through it? So you can't run the grub screw all the way through?

Would a sensible mod for this not be to remove the grub screw, use a small drill bit and ream a shallow detente into the lever that the grub screw can nestle into, then reassemble with some thread lock?

If I were rash enough to buy one of these I think that would be the first thing I'd do....

Potentially scary situation there, if that had happened in an emergency situation or if you had needed to get yourself out of an exposed position sharpish you could've been in some serious trouble....luckily you weren't.

Am thinking bout sending my sj direct to ART and see what they say, agree with you though that this device could perhaps have been built with heavy handed Arbs more in mind? Will be interesting to see how these issues that have been discussed affect any future updates by the manufacturers?

Got my sj back yesterday...all sorted and back in action. Free worker in Germany and honey bros got it done with no costs to me so thanks to those guys, and thanks to gibbon for the heads up on taking that route to solve the problem...will be very gentle from now on whenever I go near that grub screw!

No grub screws or cams to replace on a Bulldog OAR.....:001_tt2:

Never tried one of those....would need to be pretty slick to beat my sj tho :sneaky2:....admittedly, you could argue that all the moving parts on the sj could potentially cause probs but now I'm feeling a bit more up to speed on its correct handling, I feel sure the teething issues are behind me..(I hope:001_smile:)
