Anybody know what the legality's of Ebay auctions are?

I bought an Item last sunday in Scotland, and arranged to collect it this weekend. I contacted the seller to confirm the collection, turns out he's decided to sell it to someone else, and now feels he's not liable.

This has irritated me ( it was a rare ford tractor engine), and I was wondering if Ebay auctions are legaly binding?

How did you pay ?

paypal or credit card ?

either or have policies protecting both parties #

the credit card boys will hammer him if he has taken their money,

also if payment has been accepted then to me it is alegally binding contract

if the money isnt returned then thats fraud, obtaining moneys by deception !!

you must feel like driving up & putting one on his nose end

ps did he put a clause in the listing advising of the right to withdraw or advertised elsewhere ?

Iain,

the deal was cash on collection - he did not want it going through his books. However, ther was no clause in the auction to finish early or the right to sell to someone else.

well hes agreed to sell to you if there was no reserve amount then he must accept the amount its reached

not entirely convinced about the realitys of it though as it will envolve legal claims so small claims court

long drawn out & my not apply north of the border !!

Not the same thing but the wife baught a watch last year. To cut a long storey short she got money back through ebay and the seller was stuck off. Keep all transactions (ack of sale/emails/etc), notify ebay what has happened (with your proof) and see what happens. If they sell a lot of stuff it may at least give u some satisfaction by giving them some serious **** to deal with.

Fook'n hate ebay wonkers :bluboomteamenforcer. Something too good to be true usually is.
