I went over there, loved it! Hired a motorhome (rv) for three weeks. Think it was about £330 per week, explored Yosemite and right up the coast to nearly Oregon. Bit sad seeing all the huge tree stumps everywhere, but there's lots of trees too.

This is me in 1979 somewhere on the west coast and hitching up to the Redwoods near San Francisco.

 

No pics of the trees survive it seems but I still remember it. Not just the sheer size of them, but the smells and sounds of the place.

 

 

We must be a similar age.

We were on boulderwood drive in the New Forest 2 weeks ago and got out for a walk and found some large redwoods and giganticum- biggest in UK small by usa standards but even so it felt and smelt much like Yosemite woods.

That's the Carson Mansion in Eureka. Built by a lumber baron years ago. Now belongs to the Ingomar club.

 

There's also little boy redwoods too - lol
