Thats the new Bankmaster. Its a bridge track unit with a very wide track span and super ground clearance. It also has a tilt bed so that the unit is level on steep banks. It will go places other tracked units have never been before!

Downside to that: It will also get stuck places other tracked units have never been before. Hope it has a long winch cable :001_tongue:

so are these tilt beds acceptable now? i understand there was some questions over them when they first came out?

The tilt bed system was originally fitted on the standard varitrac machines to help with their stability, and it was the opinion of some companies that this could encourage the Operator to take the chipper beyond it's capabilities. The tilt bed system on the Bankmaster is fitted for Operator comfort and to allow the chipper to track across very steep bankings keeping the engine nearer level for the oil pickup etc. the width of the trackbase when fully extended is such that the tilting of the chipper body is not required for stability.

ok. i was also under the impression it was something to do with the height of the feed hopper that was causing concern when tilted?

i used this earlier machine and thought it was great personally

If the chipper is fitted with the top bar in-feed hopper then the tilting would raise it above 600mm which would be an issue, the fold down hopper shown in the picture with the bar at the bottom will mean that the tilting of the chipper should only raise the hopper so should still be ok.
