I normally find some sort of bag that the rope I'm using will fit into. sometimes I cut the shoulder straps off or even go as far as putting a grommet in the bottom. The only ones I ever found that lasted any length of time were of the caving or spelio variety. But I went off buying PVC shortly after I discovered how harmful the manufacturing process is to our gaff. If it's over 100m I prefer to keep on a spool that sits on a little home made cradle.
