I burnt some 14 month seasoned Horse Chestnut last week and it burnt just fine with no spitting.

Sweet Chestnut has a reputation for spitting, I dont think that HC does in the same way

Burnt a piece of Sweet Chestnut tonight. Spat a little bit but not excessively, had to mix it with some other wood as I'm sure the fire would have gone out if left alone. Can almost be split with a butter knife but I'm not impressed with how it burns.

Splits super easy, leaves very little ash,burns fairly well.Needs a rather Long time to season In my experience.Great to use mixed with softwood I found
