As usual the grants are not available for equipment you could use else where, so as Charlie says (wasn't that on an advert many moons ago??) you cannot purchase a tractor or something else useful like a chainsaw. Up to 40% is available against the purchase of forwarders, tractor mounted forestry grabs, forestry trailers, tractor mounted chippers, self propelled chippers, tractor mounted firewood processors, associated processing equipment, mobile saw bench, firewood splitters and winches.

 

However, you must demonstrate you have the capital to purchase the item yourself, pay for it and then claim back the 40%.

 

As far as I am aware they are administered by the RDPE and its the Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme but as I said earlier entries close on 17 July (and at the present speed its taken people to send quotes/return phone calls I might miss the deadline!).
