Ouch! 375€ that IS low.

Especially considering that you will be paying 50%+of your profit to the state.

Have you found out how much the other paysagistes are charging out?

One way is to use a friends/clients house with trees of course and invite companies to quote for work there using their prices as your measure.

I will travel an hour for work but only if its a whole days worth.

As a guide, French tradesmen charge out at 35-45 per hour rarely less than 300€ per day.

Which department are you in France?

Cheers Stuart

we look for 300e per man 100 for chipper or 200 pto 10inch grab fed 100 mewp . usually end up supplying 3rd man at cost. used to get 10-15% more 2 years ago. now there are gangs on 500 for 2men & chipper and every town surrounded by cowboy\window cleaners\tree toppers

There are a few other uk guys around and we all charge around the same. A couple of them work with there wives so all the money goes into one household. That makes it a bit more difficult for me to be competitive and get the job.

There are a few big French firms with all the gear and no idea but they have the gift of the gab.

We are in dept 86, 2km from vallee des singes.

I am just about to put a devi in to a local marie for a day. i bet some other guy will do the job with a funny handshake and a couple of rabbits thrown in.

Hi Folks,

I think I have to agree with Ty on this, VTS you are a little too cheap, don't sell yourself short.

MSA cotisations, insurance, CFE, etc etc etc, are with us all over here, and I am charging out at more like 400 eu(at todays exchange rate £339.00)/day for two of us (we both climb and ground so works out equal shares) with take away tops or dispose on site (can't afford chipper at the moment), and charging travelling times and diesel.

I have to make it up with odd gardening jobs, hedge cutting, pruning etc when I can get it. I've been undercut by a few local guys on some jobs, but I reckon that they are only just about making it work for them, cotisations are the crippler over here!

be safe

Well, we are largely dried up now on the tree front for a few weeks.

Don't expect any excitment now until after Noel so we seasonaly turn our hands over to minor building renovations or labouring jobs.

Still pays far above the minimum wage and keeps the wolf from the door no question there.

On the plus side, we have friends and poor expats who need cheap/free tree work doing.

This is my opportunity to train my younger business partner/groundsman the basics of climbing etc without being overly worried about the clients garden or cleaning up.

The intention being once he has the basics to send him to the U.K for his tickets. The french don't offer short courses...

Cheers! Ty
