I have had a call about a windblown thats down chances are its a T.P.O I just sifted through the info the council sent me regarding T.P.O but cant find anything about windblown and what the procedure is if they are down in a dangerous area i.e children running around and covered by a tpo the people want it cleared for health and safety reasons how soon could i start work on the tree?im just popping over to take a look at it now but wanted to know the situation before i contact the council and make enquiries so i can at least know what to expect to be able to tell the cutomer what is the normal procedure if its a tpo and its completly down?

Dead, dying or dangerous trees are excluded from the legislation - a courtesy call to the tree officer at the Council and a a few photos of the tree before you start work won't do any harm though.

Take note that the new TPO regulations that apply from April 6th this year have removed the words 'dying' and 'dangerous' from the exemptions.

I have attached the new regs here - see page 7 and 8.

Thanks, that's very useful. I've been out of this line of work for 2 years and have just come back - just goes to show the value of CPD I guess.
