Got some slices of cherry that I want to turn into fancy looking clocks, they have a nice range of colours. I need some pointers.

Bark on or off?

What varnish/wax is best to make the colours look their best?

Some people use sanding sealer first then the lacquer, sanding sealer acts like a base coat, but I don't I just take my time on the sanding first and get it perfect then lacquer.

Ok. It's for Indoor use and I like the idea of a spray! Some slices have got a little bit of blurring on one side so I wouldn't be able to get the bark off. Got 8 good size slices, one in a cool heart shape, that I'm gonna have a mess about with. I'll post some results when I've sorted them!
