oil pump on Stihl Combi saw

Had no oil lubing the chain on my Stihl combi saw. I took it all apart, cleared all channels but still no oil. I took off the bar and chain and ran the motor - no oil was coming out of the channel. Should oil flow out of the channel if the bar and chain are removed? Would this indicate the oil pump is dead?

The tank is probably just blocked. Try taking it out and cleaning it through.

Pumping oil out nicely now. Took the whole head apart, cleaned out with the Mrs's new Polti steam cleaner (brilliant for getting the dirt out of small items like this), replaced it all and now oiling the chain nicely.

As an aside, what lubricant should be used in the head unit / drive shaft gears?
